JXDNG COLLABORATES WITH MUA

ALLI JEAN JASMIN (@facecanvassed)

"to explore and communicate the sporadic reality of someone with anxiety and depression in the hopes of raising awareness of what often doesn't meet the eye at first glance."

In April, I asked my instagram followers to share their experiences with Anxiety. I was overwhelmed with stories and so so honoured that I was entrusted enough for them. With these stories, Alli and I attempted to collate them with our own experiences and with the help of Alex Vu (videographer), we created this visual project using our own creative outlets - hers in make up and mine in photography.

In sharing this project with you, we hope that you find some ease knowing you are not alone in your experiences and that yes, you can talk about what you're going through because the chances are, the person next to you is going through something similar.

A CHat to ALLI

about why she does what she does

"Growing up, my form of expression had always been through formulating a bunch of sentences together. Putting pen to paper or seeing letters on a screen was how I tried to make sense of all the nonsensical things I felt after being diagnosed with a cluster of mental illnesses. However writing soon became destructive. It became more counterproductive than once was and I knew I had to stop. After 3 years of neglecting my creativity and need for a positive outlet, I finally found what I'd been missing through artistry. Being able to work alongside Jess to execute this creative vision was a moment of liberation for me. There is something about being able to use another human being's face as a canvas for what runs through your mind that can't be put in words. There is an iridescence that lingers when you paint your unapologetic emotions on unfiltered skin. There is a connection formed beyond what makes contact on the other side of a brush. And for all these moments to be captured in its rarity has been a dream. It has been an absolute honour to explore and communicate the "sporadic" reality of someone with anxiety and depression in the hopes of raising awareness of what often doesn't meet the eye at first glance."
